Sara Muriello

Sara Muriello

Administrator

Sara was introduced to the Catechesis in the summer of 1997, after she told her good friend that she wanted new work that was meaningful and non-stressful. Sara had also stipulated to her friend that she wasn’t going to look for such a position, but that it had to come to her. Within a few weeks her friend introduced Sara to Tina Lillig, who was looking for an administrator for the National Office of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Her friend thought Sara and Tina would work together beautifully, and she was right – Sara and Tina would forge a deep and lasting friendship. This was the first time that Sara had heard about the Catechesis, and by October of that year Sara was hired. Coincidentally, the national office was renting space in Sara’s church, Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park, Illinois, where she and her family had begun attending that summer.

By 2002 Sara had completed all three levels of training. She has been a catechist in all three levels at Grace Church, and has also served as Grace’s CGS coordinator. Her experience as a catechist has opened her mind and heart to the tremendous capacity of the child as well as “the child within the adult,” to trust in and live a daily spiritual journey that comes not from being taught, but pondered.

Sara has worked in the national office as the administrator from November 1997 through May 2004 and again from September 2007 to the present. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Urbana.

Together, she and her husband Paul have two daughters, a son, one son-in-law, and a brand new grandson. Because all the children were teenagers when she found Catechesis, Sara plans to immerse herself back into Level I in the next few years in hopes of being a guiding force in the spiritual life of her grandchildren.
