Charlene Trochta: December 31, 1931-July 24, 2021

Charlene Sylvia Trochta
December 31, 1931 – July 24, 2021

A beloved friend of Christ Jesus and His Church and one who dedicated her life’s work to the children of the world; Charlene Trochta, died at her home Saturday, July 24, 2021, in Austin, Texas. She was an invaluable part of the Montessori Essentials courses, spending months in 2005 and 2006 collaborating on the choice of readings that would best represent Dr. Maria Montessori’s dedication to the spiritual development of the child. There is much to remember about the legacy that Charlene leaves for the Montessori and CGS communities. There are many who have been inspired by her long experience, great wisdom, and open-hearted love. The beautiful Flower Arranging Lesson that has become a part of our catechesis is a remembrance of the respect and joy of life that she shared with us in New Hampshire.

Join us in prayers of thanksgiving to our Good Shepherd for this dear one, for Joe, her husband of 69 years, her many friends, and for the thousands of children, their parents, and teachers that she has touched over her long life.

Welcome to CGSUSA

We believe God and the child have a unique relationship with one another. Children need their own place to foster the growth of that relationship. The growth of this relationship is assisted by the adult, but is directed by the Spirit of God within the child.

What is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd? The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd was born from the joy of the children’s encounter with God. It has been observed that children of the same developmental stage, even those from widely varying cultural backgrounds, respond to elements of the Christian message in the same way.

Connect to CGSUSA

We read in the Gospel of Mark that Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs, two by two; the journey was not meant to be a solitary one. It is essential for us as catechists to support one another as we prepare materials, work in the atrium, and observe the child. We come together in unity, as members of CGSUSA, to share the joy of this work.
