Tending to the work of CGSUSA

In 2007, our first National Director of CGSUSA, Tina Lillig, in concert with the board of trustees had the wisdom and foresight to establish The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Endowment Fund through the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation (OPRFCF).

Today, we benefit immensely from their wisdom. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Endowment Fund allows CGSUSA to ensure its long-term growth and helps to expand on the expression of CGSUSA’s overall mission and purpose.

The CGSUSA Endowment Fund is managed by the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation. As an educational foundation, it may receive corporate matching funds for the benefit of CGSUSA. We can assist you in leveraging your gift with matching funds.

What is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd? The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd was born from the joy of the children’s encounter with God. It has been observed that children of the same developmental stage, even those from widely varying cultural backgrounds, respond to elements of the Christian message in the same way.

We read in the Gospel of Mark that Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs, two by two; the journey was not meant to be a solitary one. It is essential for us as catechists to support one another as we prepare materials, work in the atrium, and observe the child.
