2021 Call for Nominations to the Board of Trustees

CGSUSA announces the opening of nominations and elections for members of the Board of Trustees of CGSUSA. The results of this year’s election will be shared at the 2021Annual Meeting held online on Friday, August 20, 2021.
The Board of CGSUSA has seven trustees, each of whom is elected for a threeyear term. Board members may serve for up to three consecutive terms. This year, the CGSUSA membership will elect three board members.
Barbara Matera, who has served for two terms as President of the Board of Trustees, will not be standing for a third term.
Angela Miller who has served for one term on the Board of Trustees will not be standing for a second term.
Susan StuhlsatzReese, who serves as board VicePresident, will seek her second term of office.
We are seeking nominees to stand for election for three board positions, and we encourage all members of the Association to consider nominating individuals whom they consider to be worthy candidates. Nominations are due by July 6, 2021.
The Board of Trustees governs the United States Association of The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGSUSA). A board member acts as a sponsor, ambassador, fundraiser, and consultant for the Association. Please prayerfully consider if you or someone you know would be a good candidate and have the skills needed for the board. To help with this process, the current board has put together information regarding expertise sought on the board at this time as well as expected responsibilities of board members.

Welcome to CGSUSA

We believe God and the child have a unique relationship with one another. Children need their own place to foster the growth of that relationship. The growth of this relationship is assisted by the adult, but is directed by the Spirit of God within the child.

What is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd? The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd was born from the joy of the children’s encounter with God. It has been observed that children of the same developmental stage, even those from widely varying cultural backgrounds, respond to elements of the Christian message in the same way.

Connect to CGSUSA

We read in the Gospel of Mark that Jesus sent his disciples out in pairs, two by two; the journey was not meant to be a solitary one. It is essential for us as catechists to support one another as we prepare materials, work in the atrium, and observe the child. We come together in unity, as members of CGSUSA, to share the joy of this work.

Support CGSUSA

Through their joy, their wonder and awe, their capacity for love and prayer, and their radical simplicity, children offer us adults a glimpse of what it means to fall in love with God. This has been the work of CGSUSA for over 30 years: to advocate for the child’s joy.
