We Remember Augusta Poluzzi
With deep love and gratitude, we share that on August 31, 2025, in her beloved city of Rome, Augusta Poluzzi was welcomed into the arms of the Good Shepherd.
Augusta was best known in the CGS community as the faithful companion and beloved helper of Sofia Cavalletti, with whom she shared decades of friendship and service in the original atrium in Rome. It was the care that she took of Sofia and even Gianna that helped them manage the growing interest in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd not only with the children who came to the atrium each week but the many visitors who came to see Sofia and Gianna and the atrium from around the world. She welcomed people from far and wide. It was her vigilant attention to Sofia until Sofia’s passing that also showed the beauty of a servant’s heart.
Friends in Rome shared that Augusta’s son Stefano let them know she passed peacefully during the night. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at Chiesa Nuova, the square that was so dear to her heart.
Augusta’s life was a living parable of the mustard seed: small, humble, yet blossoming into shelter for many. She leaves behind countless friends, catechists, and children whose lives have been enriched by her loving, exuberant spirit.
With grateful hearts, we commend her to the Good Shepherd, whom she served so faithfully. As we remember her life and witness, let us lift her in prayer:
May the angels lead you into paradise.
May the martyrs receive you at your arrival and lead you to the holy city Jerusalem.
May choirs of angels receive you and with Lazarus, once poor, may you have eternal rest.
Amen.
